Important Update on #SaveChildcareVouchers Campaign

Your Voice is being heard!

With just two months before Childcare Vouchers are set to close to new entrants, Employers For Childcare is asking MPs to sign a new Early-Day Motion, co-sponsored by Lady Sylvia Hermon. It calls for Childcare Vouchers to be kept open alongside Tax-Free Childcare and for MPs to have the opportunity to debate and vote on the proposed changes in Parliament before they are fully implemented. The Motion has already been signed by MPs from each of the opposition parties.

We are delighted several of our local MPs have endorsed the campaign to date, and have been working hard alongside us, in particular Emma Little-Pengelly and Lady Sylvia Hermon. We are grateful to them for their support.

Many ordinary working families stand to lose out if Childcare Vouchers close to new entrants, and time is running out…

It’s widely accepted Childcare Vouchers help parents transition into work, and to stay in work, by supporting them with the cost of childcare.  They are tried and tested, they work on the ground and provide real savings for real families – families we hear from every day who are concerned how it will impact them should the closure of the scheme to new entrants go ahead.

This Early-Day Motion recognises the importance of debating the closure of Childcare Vouchers – a vital form of financial support which helps hundreds of thousands of working families. Aoife Hamilton, Policy and Information Manager, said:

“We welcome this important development in the #SaveChildcareVouchers campaign. There is still time to make a difference, and we must do all we can now to halt the closure of Childcare Vouchers to new entrants.  We are working hard to ensure the voices of hundreds of thousands of families are heard in Westminster. We would urge parents, employers and childcare providers to lobby their MP and ensure they sign this Early-Day Motion today.”
