Make Sure You Access All The Financial Support You Are Entitled to This Christmas

The festive season is upon us once again and amidst the excitement this can also be a worrying time for many families. The run up to Christmas inevitably means additional expenses, both in terms of presents and extra food for family get togethers, but also the ongoing financial pressure of rising household bills, rising interest rates, and the increased cost for heat and electricity through the darkest and coldest time of the year.

We would encourage all parents to take a few minutes this festive season and get in touch with the Family Benefits Advice Service to make sure their family is receiving all the financial support they are entitled to. In the past year our advisors identified an average of £2,200 in additional financial support for the families we carried out a calculation for. So before 2024 even starts make the decision to call us to ensure you will be starting the new year knowing exactly what support you are entitled to, and how to apply for it. Don’t miss out because you think you won’t be entitled to support, or that it will be too complicated.

Here is two examples of families we have helped become better off:

Andy and Jacqui are both self-employed and make a joint profit of £124,000. We identified that, through Tax-Free Childcare, they can receive £350 per month towards their childcare costs, for their three children, saving them £4,200 a year.

Roisin decided to come out of work to be a full-time carer of their disabled child. As her husband William works full-time they did not think they would be entitled to any benefits other than the Disability Living Allowance that their child receives. We advised them that they would be entitled to Carer’s Allowance and Universal Credit totaling £11,272 per year.

These are just a few examples of the thousands of families our Family Benefits Advice Service have helped over the past year.
