Employers For Childcare finalist in the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2017

Employers For Childcare is delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories at the UK Social Enterprise Awards 2017 taking place this Thursday 23rd November in London—for UK Social Enterprise of the Year, and Marie Marin, Chief Executive of Employers For Childcare, has been shortlisted for the Women in Social Enterprise Award.

The Awards recognise social enterprises—businesses that reinvest their profits for social and environmental good—for their business excellence and contribution to society, as well as the achievements of people working at the heart of the sector.

Employers For Childcare is the only Social Enterprise Childcare Voucher company in the UK. All profits are reinvested into its charity which aims to make it easier for parents with dependent children to get into work and to stay in work.

Addressing childcare as an economic and a labour market issue, Employers For Childcare recognises that an inability to access affordable childcare is a key barrier to employment that, if addressed, plays a significant role in supporting working families and reducing child poverty.

Marie Marin, Chief Executive of Employers For Childcare, said, “We are thrilled to be a finalist for Social Enterprise of the Year, particularly in such a highly competitive category with entries from across the UK. It is affirmation of the dedication of our team in supporting working parents, and a great opportunity to put the importance of affordable childcare in facilitating employment high on the agenda.”

Employers For Childcare’s charity, funded through their social enterprise, provides advice and information to families, helping them make decisions about work, childcare and financial support they are entitled to. They also undertake research to provide evidence to lobby Government on childcare, family and work-related issues.

In 2016/17 alone, callers to Employers For Childcare’s free Family Benefits Advice Service collectively identified savings of over £14.8 million. In their feedback, 99% of parents stated that speaking to Employers For Childcare helped them make better decisions about their circumstances, including seeking to secure work and increasing their working hours.
