Northern Ireland Childcare Cost Survey 2015

New findings from our sixth annual Childcare Costs Survey show that the cost of childcare in Northern Ireland continues to rise, with a full-time place now costing £8,528 per year.

Almost 5,000 local parents from Northern Ireland that took part in this year’s Childcare Cost survey, and the findings have revealed that 56% are under increased financial pressure due to their childcare bill, with 24% being forced to rely on other means to regularly meet their childcare payment, such as credit cards, overdrafts, loans or payday loans.

These findings present a picture of parents struggling to make ends meet and making difficult decisions about work, family and spend. The results underpin our call on government to take real steps towards addressing the problems associated with childcare provision in Northern Ireland.

A summary of the key findings can also be viewed in our short executive summary report.
