Coalition Government – what will be the impact on families?
Monday 7 June 2010
Number 10 opened its door to reveal the first coalition Government in 36 years. The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have wasted little time getting down to business. On 11 May the new Government published its negotiations agreement covering a range of issues. The parties have agreed to set out an emergency budget within the next 50 days, which will set out its plans for the coming year. The Child Trust Funds are one of the first casualties, with a recent announcement made to phase them out. On 22 June, George Osborne, the new Chancellor of the Exchequer, will reveal the new Government’s budget. Cuts of £6 billion to non-frontline services will be made within the financial year 2010-2011. How will this impact on working families? Employers For Childcare’s focus is very much centred on changes that will affect families. more »

MLA of the Year, Dawn Purvis (PUP) presented the award to Marie Marin, Chief Executive Officer with Employers For Childcare at a celebratory function held in The Black Box.
The ChildcareSOS (Save our Savings) campaign was launched by

The intensive campaign, which received national coverage, has led The Labour Party Government to now reconsider its proposals. The success of and the momentum of the ChildcareSOS campaign led to it being voted for by NI Assembly MLAs as the Campaign of the Year!
Marie Marin, CEO of Employers For Childcare whose aim is to make it easier for parents with dependent children to get into work, and to stay in work said; “I am absolutely delighted to have been recognised by our local politicians as the Campaign of the Year for 2009.
