Surveys and Upcoming Research
Surveys are an important research tool which enable us to collect data for our reports. We use surveys to acquire statistical data about families as well as to collect qualitative data relating to the opinions of families.

Current Survey: Out of Schools Provision in Primary Schools
Win £500 for School Resources!
We are surveying all primary schools in Northern Ireland and wish to hear from both those that do offer out of school provision and those that do not. This exercise will enable us to obtain a true picture of the level of provision that exists and the challenges faced by primary schools in Northern Ireland, particularly given the fragility of the current economic climate.
All participating schools will be entered into a draw to win £500 to spend on school resources.

Upcoming Research: Family Friendly Working Policies
Working in partnership with the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland (ECNI), we are planning to carry out a piece of research which seeks the views of employers regarding their experiences and perspectives of family friendly working policies and practices. The research report will be launched in the spring of 2012.
Upcoming Research: Approved Home Childcare
The main forms of childcare used in Northern Ireland are childminders, day nurseries, breakfast clubs and afterschool clubs. However, there is one form of childcare which remains largely underused: the use of Approved Home Childcarers. Approved Home Childcare is a flexible form of provision where an approved carer provides care in the child’s home. Yet it only represents 2% of all childcare provision. This research examines the reasons why and is due to be launched in the near future.
