Childcare in Extended Schools Childcare run by schools in schools To whom it may concern: Employers For Childcare has sought and received clarification from HMRC in relation to the registration of childcare in a school setting in Northern Ireland. “Where childcare is provided by a school on school premises we do accept this as qualifying childcare for both tax credit and employer supported childcare purposes without requiring the production of a registration certificate or approval number. Any claims can of course be subject to routine checks to ensure that the details provided are accurate.” (HMRC Oct 2007) This means that any parent using childcare run by the school in a school setting (Breakfast Club, Afterschool Club, School Holiday Club) can avail of the Government’s Childcare Element of Working Tax Credit or childcare vouchers.
